The traditional metal filter remains at the core of ByteChef, allowing coffee oils to pass through and create the rich body that defines filter coffee. Our weighted tamper takes the guesswork out of pressing the grounds.

Using an array of internal sensors, ByteChef tracks brewing variables in real time for a consistent yield. Our proprietary algorithm automatically manages temperature, blooming and intermittent water delivery.

Prep the machine the night before and program the built-in timer. Wake up to the aroma of hot decoction.

Traditional manual filters become hot and notoriously frustrating to pry open after brewing. We completely redesigned the experience with a smooth, slide-in mechanism.

Decoction: Slow, controlled extraction for rich South Indian filter coffee.Drip: Automated pour-over brewing for a clean, flavourful cup.

ByteChef features an incredibly compact and narrow footprint: standing at 31 cm tall and an ultra-slim 12 cm wide.
ByteChef is proudly designed and developed in India. We've partnered with Topsail Appliances in Silvassa, led by industry veterans Prakash Dadlani and Rajan Bhosale, to handle manufacturing. Topsail is known for its focus on quality, process discipline, and world-class manufacturing standards.

An uncompromising choice for purity
Choosing food-grade SS304 stainless steel over standard plastic paths significantly raised our production costs, but compromising on health and taste was never an option. The result is a completely clean brewing environment. The polished stainless steel filter and collection compartment are naturally durable and a breeze to clean.
The Inspiration
Coffee lovers have machines designed specifically for espresso, pour-over, and cold brew. Yet one of the world's richest coffee traditions, the South Indian filter coffee, has remained largely unchanged. It still relies on skill, patience, and a process that can be surprisingly difficult to get right.
“What if there was a coffee machine engineered to brew fantastic decoction at the touch of a button?”
The answer became ByteChef.

We worked closely with experts associated with the Coffee Board of India, taking the product to coffee scientists at the Central Coffee Research Institute and refining our approach with their knowledge and feedback.
Our ambition goes beyond making mornings easier.
We want to take the beautiful tradition of South Indian filter coffee to more homes in India, and eventually to coffee lovers around the world.

ByteChef is developed by Culinext Technologies Private Limited, a hardware company based in Chennai focused on solving everyday kitchen challenges.
Abosolutely not! We have an experienced hardware engineering team developing our products from scratch. 100% of the product, technology and design are developed by us.
We are proudly, truly designed and Made in India.
Yes. ByteChef is proudly incubated with the Atal Incubation Centre - Central Coffee Research Institute (AIC-CCRI CED) under the Coffee Board of India (Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India).

For the actual production, we have partnered with Top Sail (led by Prakash Dadlani and Rajan Bhosale), utilizing their world-class manufacturing facilities in Silvassa.
This partnership allows us to keep our core design and technical development close to home while leveraging industry-grade manufacturing infrastructure to build a robust, premium product at scale.
ByteChef is designed to meet both Indian and international electrical safety standards. The system includes multiple layers of protection, including proper earthing, water level monitoring to prevent dry heating, sensor failure detection, and an independent safety thermostat. These safeguards work together to ensure safe and reliable operation in everyday use.
Other automated coffee machines are engineered for Western styles like espresso or pour-over. ByteChef is the first electric coffee maker built from the ground up specifically for Indian Filter Coffee.
Traditional filter coffee requires a slow, deliberate gravity-fed drip extraction to get a thick, rich decoction. ByteChef automates this entire traditional ritual using a custom 32-bit microprocessor and integrated sensors. It controls the water flow, timing, and pulsing exactly like a master brewer would, giving you a perfect, hands-free decoction every morning.
Yes. ByteChef replicates the traditional slow-drip process while controlling temperature and flow more precisely, ensuring authentic flavor with greater consistency.
These are our automated core extraction steps designed to maximize flavor:
Hot water does not contact plastic by design.
Yes, absolutely. ByteChef is open-system. Whether you prefer a traditional 80:20 coffee-to-chicory blend from your local roaster, a commercial brand, or a custom 100% Arabica roast, the machine is designed to handle different coffee blends flawlessly.
A typical brewing cycle takes about 15 minutes. The quantity brewed in one cycle can serve up to 8 cups of strong filter coffee.
ByteChef can brew between 2 to 8 cups of filter coffee based on the quantity of coffee powder and water used. Detailed instructions are available in the user manual.
A medium-coarse grind (similar to rava/sooji texture) works best for filter coffee brewing.
When the coffee powder is too fine, it can pack tightly and clog the filter, slowing the flow of water. This makes the brew take longer and allows the water to lose heat, which reduces extraction efficiency.
Very fine grinds can also cause tunneling, where water finds a narrow path through the coffee bed instead of flowing evenly through it. This means some coffee is over-extracted while the rest is barely extracted.
A medium-coarse grind allows water to flow evenly through the coffee bed while maintaining the right brewing temperature. The result is a strong, balanced decoction with better flavor and consistency.
There are only 3 stainless steel components to wash. The filter, the decoction collector and a specially designed tamper.
Descaling removes scale formation inside the machine. To descale, simply run a normal brew cycle with vinegar followed by another cycle with normal water.
The initial launch is focused on India. International shipping will be introduced later. The Indian version is rated at 220V. A 110V version for international operation is coming soon.
